Spring Fling

Ihastuin välittömästi, kun näin tämän Bead and Buttonin helmikuun numerossa. Tein korun muuten ohjeen mukaan, mutta käytin useampaa eri siemenhelmeä, koska minulla ei ollut yhtä juuri sopivaa sävyä. Kullanvärisiin siemenhelmiin kukkien keskellä olen erityisen tyytyväinen. Koru on yllättävän painava, joten se kannattaa tehdä hiukan lyhyeksi, koska se voi hieman venyä käytössä. Voisin kokeilla tämän mallin tekemistä yhtenäisenä rivinä, jolloin lankojen päättelyä tulisi vähemmän.

It was love at first sight when I saw this necklace on Bead and Button February 2012. I made it almost following the pattern. I used several different seed beads, because I did not have one just right. I am specially happy with gold seed beads in the middle of the flowers. Necklace is sort of heavy, so leave it tad bit short, it might stretch a little bit in use. I would like to try to make this in one continual strip, so there wouldn't be so many thread ends to weave in.

Lohikäärmeen häntä /Dragon's Tail

Tämä koru on tehty kumihimo-tekniikalla. Tekniikka ei ole vaikea ja sitä voi tehdä joko helmillä tai ilman  helmiä. Malli löytyi Bead and Button (August 2011) -lehdestä. Koru on hyvin käärmemäinen, suomuinen pinta tulee pitkistä magatama-helmistä.

This necklace is made by using technique called kumihimo. It is not difficult, and you can make kumihimo with or without beads. Pattern can be found on Bead and Button (August 2011). This piece of jewelry is  very snake-like, thanks to the long magatama beads.

Fritillaria meleagris

Tein nämä korvikset Beadwork (feb/march 2012)- lehdessä olleen ohjeen mukaan. Alkuperäisessä ohjeessa oli käytetty Delica-helmiä. Korviksissa olen käyttänyt Toho 11/o siemenhelmiä. (Kuinkahan söpöltä nämä näyttäisivät tehtynä 15/o siemenhelmistä?) Mielenkiintoinen, mutta ei aivan helppo malli. Näistä korviksista tulee mieleen kirjopikarililja. Menee vielä hetki ennen kuin niitä löytyy myös puutarhasta!

I made these earrings following the pattern from Beadwork (Feb/March 2012). Original pattern used cylinder beads, but I made these earrings with Toho 11/o seed beads. (How cute these would look with 15/o?) Very interesting, but not easiest pattern to make. These earrings look a bit like Fritillaria meleagris. It will take few moments until those can be found on our garden!
